Default Tolo's

Having parked near to Tolo's when having an evening in PP when we stayed in CSV, to walking past every evening, as we now stay just around the corner we had never actually eaten there until our recent trip.
It was just one of those places we have always intended to try but it was always too busy or too empty or we knew where we were heading, so we walked on by. Anyway decided to go in this time, I think mainly due to Citrus being shut. OH had a mixed grill and I had the beef stroganoff. Both meals were delicious and well presented, OH couldn't believe his eyes when he saw how enormous his meal was , the price was reasonable too.
It was lovely to sit overlooking the bay and we kept saying to each other why had we never stopped here before , I think it may just become one of our regular haunts and we are looking forward to returning in September.

Tolos was excellent a couple of years ago and we always made it our restaurant of choice and then about 18 months ago the food went downhill. We presumed that they had a different chef so after several mediocre meals we stopped going. It's good to hear some positive reports this year, hopefully they have a new chef and are back on track, we will make a point of giving them another visit sometime soon.

We had really bad service there last year Started of badly as they hadnt kept our table we had booked ( we were on time ) Ended up being squashed in ( couldnt get out !!) by a very large party

Terrible trouble getting wine ( wished we hadnt after or we would have gone !) It took so long to get anything and they forgot things like plates and knives and forks to go with our salad ! Waiters running around not knowing who to serve Overcharged but just paid couldnt care by then !! felt sorry for people next to us who had one meal out as on half board and they recieved starters after mains and mustard after steak was finished Then had the bill dumped before they coudl ask for deserts !!

So many people seem to like it we have decided to give it another go if it doesent look too busy ! It wasnt bad food it was just obtaining it !!

Yes, we've had similar negative experiences over the past couple of years - again, with the service rather than the food; even getting a glass of lager on a quiet afternoon last July seemed a challenge, they all seemed so disorganised!

That said though, we've had some gorgeous meals there - including fabulous lamb, pizzas and really interesting main course salads. So we will definitely give them another go this year (5 weeks tomorrow, countdown really commencing now!).

Default Tolo's

We have been out all day and wanted a quick meal. The place was nearly full. The staff were very busy, but we didnt have to wait long. The staff were very accommodating to our requests, nothing was too much trouble and the meal was lovely.

Delicious well presented main course dishes, especially the Mallorcan cod and steak dishes. The wine was excellent and desserts to die for this restaurant goes up in my estimation every time it can't be to bad if it's good enough for sir brad!.

Just shows how we all have varying experiences at the same restaurant! We tried Tolos a couple of years ago and left after waiting 20 minutes without even being shown a menu!! But may give it another try sometime

Indeed. Went there quite a few years ago and was given a plate of slop purporting to be pasta!! I suppose these places change hands frequently and they can improve? It's a very nice looking place though in a great setting.

It's also true how a bad restaurant experience can put you off ever going back.

Tolo's hasn't changed hands for many years. Maybe a different set of staff but same owner.

Tolo has run Tolo's for more than 30 years We love going there after the beach for a coffee or beer. We normally have some alioli which is one of the best i've had and delicious bruschetta. Great pizzas too but would class the menu as safe more than exciting. We never go there for an evening meal as its always a bit chaotic probably because of it's position on the frontline.

It always looks so nice there so thats why we were disappointed last year by really bad service and waiters ( very strange all seemed to know nothing about anything and bill had some extras on !!!) Will try again though

Will just have something simple ie share a salad and pizza together ( a lot of the main dishes did look a bit greasy for my tastes and only go in if it looks quiet ! Reserving a table just didnt work Will try and sit right on the front so at least we will have a good view if we are waiting and waiting and waiting !!!!!!

We love Tolo's, but agree its more of a lunch place now for us, we used to eat in the evenings when the kids were small and it was always heaving, now we go at lunchtime when its quieter and you can relax over a long lunch with one of the best views in the port

It's a lunch time place for us too. We were under charged in April, would have got a free pizza but owned up! (What comes around goes around). Pizzas ok but very bland this year as is the omelette, nice beer though
