History - Pollensa, Puerto Pollensa

I would be interested to read the history of Pollensa and surrounding areas - Are there any books or publications that can be reccommended?

I can not find any, but the romans were there, and it was important to them so there must be some out there somewhere, I must try harder to look.

Hi Whaley.

We stayed at the Hotel Illa D'or November last year and every Friday during the month the hotel offered free transport to Pollensa town and the services of a local guide for a 3 hour walking trip around town taking us into important buildings and pointing out the history of the local area . We're back at the Illa D'or a week Saturday and if they are offering a simillar trip I'll ask the guide if he can reccommend any books etc.

Hi Whaley

Don't know if you are still after books on the history of PP and area but I got a book for a recent birthday titled Majorca Culture and Life published by Konemann. It's hardback 500 or so pages covering the whole Island, PP included,fantastic photos and very interesting.

Thanks Bodge & Carl for the information, I will try to locate a copy of the book.

The guided tour around Pollensa town must have been really interesting, in particular the Mandula (time wheel) the patience that was needed by the monks to make such a wonderful legacy. I wonder if you can book the tour from the tourist information office.
