Default Alcudia Fair 5-7 Oct 2012

Many thanks to Andrew on wotzupnorth for this :-

(Events are shown with different locations but they are all in and around the market square, except the games at the Porta Punta Roja, which is by the bullring, and a couple of exhibitions at the auditorium.)

Friday, 5 October:
13:00: Alcúdia Radio broadcasts direct from the market square ahead of the fair. By the Porta des Moll.

17:00: Open day (more open late afternoon and evening) at the SARquavitae residential home for senior citizens.

18:00: Street procession with pipers and giants from the town hall.

18:30: Opening of the fair.
Local produce and wines of Mallorca - Passeig de la Mare de Déu de la Victoria.
Craft fair - Passeig de la Mare de Déu de la Victoria.
Exhibition of autumn embroideries - Fundación Torrens.
Mediaeval fair - On the Cami Ronda from the Porta des Moll school.

19:00: Opening of the exhibition: 25 years of Polidets. The Polidets kindergarten.

19:30: Openings of exhibition of mushrooms and fungi, "The fruits of the soil", of sculptures by Ramon Diaz Bennassar, of embroideries, and of photography by Martina Gómez Gual. All at Can Torro, C. Serra.

20:00: Opening of painting exhibition. Pep Manresa, "Expressive Lives". Can Fondo.

20:30: Opening of exhibitions of ceramics and artillery. Alcúdia Auditorium.

21:00: Home-cooking sampling. 4 euros per dish; 2 euros for a programme. Plaça de Carles V.

Saturday, 6 October:
10:00-22:00: The fair.

Local produce and wine, crafts (Passeig de la Mare de Déu de la Victoria). Agricultural machinery (Avinduda Prínceps d'Espanya). Mediaeval fair (Cami Ronda). IBANAT (indigenous plants and information about the IBANAT agency in Passeig Pere Ventayol).

10:00-13:00: Special programme by Alcúdia Radio. Porta des Moll.

10:00: Presentation of new aspects of the fair. Can Torro.

11:00-14:00: Traditional games (just like those of your parents). Pont de Porta de Roja.

12:00-17:00: Open day at the SARquavitae residential home for senior citizens.

16:30: Traditional children's party with satirical "big heads" S'Estol del Rei en Jaume with piper accompaniment. From the town hall.

18:30: Delivery of the book "S'Estol del Rei en Jaume" at Can Torro.

17:00-20:00: Special broadcast by Alcúdia Radio. Porta des Moll.

19:00: Presentation of the book "We Can Have Hope" (authors Javier Barba and Lucia Lacruz, "Podemos Tener Esperanza"). Can Torro.

19:00: Opening of the animals zone, including bulls, horse shows and indigenous species. Finca de l'Avinguda dels Prínceps d'Espanya.

21:00: Exhibition of hitching and mounting horses in the animals zone.

23:00: Re-live parties of the past. Dance along with groups The Flammers, Torrofort and music directed by Bernardi Vilalonga. Plaça de Carles V.

Sunday, 7 October:
09:00-22:00: The fair, mediaeval fair and animals zone. As Saturday. Plus ... Old cars and used parts (Passeig Pere Ventayol).

10:00: Arrival of town hall dignitaries with piper accompaniment.

10:00: Special programme by Alcúdia Radio. Porta des Moll.

10:00: Book crossing day (whatever this means; swapping books maybe?). Can Torro.

10:30: Horse spectacular. Western championship, pole bending, barrel, pony express. Animals zone.

11:00-17:00: Traditional games (just like those of your parents). Pont de Porta de Roja.

12:00-17:00: Open day at the SARquavitae residential home for senior citizens.

18:30: Ball de bot traditional dance and music. Sarau Alcudienc, Aires Sollerics and Abeniara. Plaça de Carles V.
