Default Wine from Mallorcan Supermarkets Advice!

Hi

I am holidaying in Cala San Vincente next month and as this is my first trip to the Island I could do with a few wine heads up please!

We have a large party - and a few Sav Blanc wine drinkers. What wine is good to buy that is similar, wines in particular from the EROSKI store which I think is the nearest big supermarket nearby. We plan to do most drinking within our private villa rather than dining out as we have many children with us. Also, for fruity ciders? and Rose wine? and which is a good round lager to buy?

Sorry for all the questions - thanks to anyone who has time to reply!

Jen

Hi Jennypen,

We're out here in Puerto Pollensa at the moment and are Pinot Grigio / Sauvignon Blanc lovers and we've been drinking 'Viņa Sol' which is a Torres wine. Not the cheapest at about €4 or €5 a bottle but if you get stuck and need a nice crisp white this'll sort you all out!!! Lol

Hope you have as wonderful a holiday as we've had :0)

'Macia Batle' Blanco, Tinto, Rosado - never fails!
Lots of good rosado's around , nice to drink with any meal - meat, fish, veg.- in hot weather. (only failure we had was a C'an Vidalet rosado!).

We buy ours from Lidl and Aldi and drink it really chilled. Inexpensive, tasty, and consistant.

hello
eroski have a really good range of wines the tierra leal blanco from valdepenas is a cheap & cheerful drop at around 1.25 they also do a rose . reds they do a rioja arnalte at 1.79 for the joven but try the crianza at slightly more I am talking less than a euro more & its not bad at all
If you are wanting to spend a little more then white riojas never fail & of course vina sol as mentioned earlier , mallorcan wines I agree with a passed post macia batle crianza red
more riojas costing more el coto crianza red at 5.15 & coto imaz reserva at around 7.50 is a fantastic red 2004 a good year !!
lagers cruzcampo, estrella dam or san miguel are all very popular
enjoy your hols !!!

Mortitx red was always one of my favorites until I tried to order a bottle in El Posito & Toni said no you must try this instead, which was cheaper for some reason. Very good but can't remember the flipping name. Suppose I will have to wait until August to find out & sample again.
