Default anima negre?

Anyone tried the Anima negre wines ? It`s reds are bottled as AN and AN2 which is the second wine ,it seems a bit of a inigma with some saying its the best in Mallorca even though they opt out of their DO (Pla I Llevant). I bought a bottle of the AN2 in Soller last week and brought it back to the UK cost around 16 euros , I think the AN is around double this , Im going to try it this weekend so I`ll post a result, also reccomended was the 2004 Binigrau ‘Obac,’ from the Binissalem DO ,anyone know where I can get it and the best shop for Mallorcan wines? Im in Pollenca in august and would like to go to town on the Mallorcan wines I always promise to but get distracted by the Riberas or Riojas

Hi,

For Mallorcan wines you could try Ensenat in the old town - near to the taxi rank. They stock a wide range of wines but I haven't heard of the ones you've mentioned.

I'll be looking out for them in August myself!

Thanks Jane will have a look there, opened the Anima Negra2 last night, it got a lot better after about a hour of opening , tasted Spanish although different than a Rioja or Ribera del Duero ,it was full bodied and earthy with not too much length , would have it again .

My Mallorcan pal brought me a bottle of Anima Negre when they came over for dinner last week. He had saved it for me for 10 months! I liked it, although it was very full bodied and I had a head like I had drank two bottles the next morning. A fine drop.
