Default Buying Macia Batle back home

Ventured into a fine wine store here in chilly Edinburgh yesterday to try and get some of the wonderful MB for Easter Sunday...but they had never heard of it!

Chap suggested that perhaps it wasn't exported. Has anyone ever purchased in this country? If so - where?

Also asked about anares crianza which also drew a blank. Maybe not a very good wine shop or perhaps true that Mallorca doesn't export much?

Any suggestions?

I can't wait until June and need SOME sort of a PP fix!

Lala

Hi Lala,

We did have a member who was on the verge of opening a wine shop in Harpenden and was bringing Malloracan wines over. Also, Peru have a wine shop near to them that sell Mallorcan wines.

I would love to be able to buy the wines here in the UK and the restrictions on baggage and liquids mean that it's impossible to bring lots home. We always sneak at least two or three bottles into the suitcase, heavily padded with towels, but I think that will be an impossibility this year with only 15kg each.

I'll post the name of the wine shop here when I've found it.

That's great info, but look at those prices! £10.99 for a bottle of the white or the red!

I can't remember how much they were in PP - but obviously a lot cheaper than that. Just goes to show how much it costs to export!

The good news J is that the 'Duty Free' in Palma Airport sells MB at 5 euros. I now pick up half a dozen on the way home! Finished the last one on Christmas Day.

Hi Lala,
I know it's a long way from Edinburgh to Pwllheli, bt our local Independent Wine Merchant here has stocked Macia Batle for some time now. Would it be worth a visit here?

Thanks guys - unless I can wait until June it looks like I may have to do some more internet research or maybe make a trip to Wales to see Peru

Has anyone visited the bodega? I found it's website http://www.maciabatle.com/uk_menue.html - now that sounds like a good day out!

Thumbs up The Nectar of the gods

Cheers Lala, unfortunately hubby cant do the red (medical reasons), but you can be sure we will sample a bottle of the white . We love to drink the Mallorcan nectar when we are there. Well someone has to keep the local economy going , thats my excuse and i'm sticking to it.Ha Ha. HIC! HIC!

Just to tempt you all further, I called in to our local wine merchant yesterday morning and was told that they are having Macia Batle Blanco in next month.
The Tinto sells very well in Pwllheli.
Can't wait for May!!!
