Senor Cigar asked some time ago whether Mallorcan wines were available in the UK, and I have made lots of enquiries.
Unfortunately, I haven't found any wines from Mallorca available anywhere, although I did find a bottle of Ribas de Cabrera 1999 for sale at about £23 in the USA.
This seems a shame as although the wine industry in Mallorca suffered a decline in the 80's, due to poor quality and competition from other world producers, there was a time, back in 1882 when Mallorcan wines were exported to France!
They are now much better quality and we enjoyed some great wines on holiday recently, notably the Jaume de Puntiro which is produced near Santa Maria.
If anyone has ever found any Mallorcan wine for sale in the UK, I would love to know. I am working for a small independent wine retailer/importer who stocks wines that are not usually found on the shelves of big supermarkets. He specialises in wine from the Mediterranean and although he might not want to stock any I would love to buy some!
