best restaurants with children

I've noticed that many of the highly recommended restaurants are propably best enjoyed without the company of "little ones". Ours are 3 and 8!
Where are the best "high quality" restaurants that also welcome children? We have nearly always been made feel very welcome (with the children) in all restaurants we've visited in and around PP in the past , but some just aren't really suitable. Sometimes its as much to do with the other diners looking for a quiet child free meal (which is fair enough) as it is to do with the owners. I don't think I'll be rushing back to the Corb Marie for example (with or without the Tex Mex view!:rolleyes )
We have regularly eaten in the square in the past but it can be a little hit and miss. Although the setting is always fab.
I wonder if we are missing out ,however, on other good quality family friendly resturants in and around PP.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

We have always found Tango to be child friendly. Bar Katy and Little Italy are could places to go with children, the food is not traditional mallorcan but with the beach right in front of the restaurant you can get the kids out of your hair. Also Pizzeria Eolo is enough good place, the service is normally pretty quick and if you eat inside there is plenty of room for the kids to wander round in.

Two restaurants that we enjoyed with the children (but you will need a car or taxi) are Ca'n Cuarassa on the road to Alcudia and L'Aup which is on the main road between PP and Pollensa, on the turning to Cala San Vicente.

Both restaurants have small play areas for the children and when we ate at L'Aup we never saw our two, except when they were eating. There were lots of other children there too and they made friends.

Sadly, we never managed to have our meal at Ca'n Cuarassa because of the mosquitoes, but don't let that put you off. The food there is wonderful and I'm sure they do a children's menu.

Another good restaurant to try on the square in PP is Los Ochelos, Casa Gallega as the children have the freedom to play but the food is excellent.

But I've said it before and I will say it again - the sooner children are exposed to good restaurants, the better. And they are on holiday too! If you take plenty of things to keep them amused you should all enjoy a lovely meal!

I agree with you Jane about children and good restaurants, thats one of the reasons that we love PP so much.
Sometimes however, I think, other diners dont feel the same way
A few restaurants that we havent tried have been mentioned so I cant wait to try them.

We have an 11 year old who has been coming to PP since she was 6months old. I can honestly say that we have never had a problem in any of the restaurants that we have been to. I agree with Jane that the sooner children are exposed to all restaurants the better.
We have always found Llenaires to be really good as well - how many with children have had to walk them up the tree? Can't just be us!!
My daughter loved C'an cuarassa but sadly we went off it when it changed hands a couple of years ago.
The Clivia in Pollensa is a very upmarket restaurant but they have always welcomed our daughter and even done her the odd plain chicken (which wasn't on the menu - but she wanted chicken and nothing else would do!!).

The main thing is that the Mallorcans love children and especially families, so they will welcome you - even if some tourists don't. The other thing that we used to do was take a bag of things to keep her interested if she got bored - comics, puzzles, crayons, paper, etc..

I know just what you mean re eating out at nice places with children. It's sometimes really hard to keep 2 children quiet (mine usually end up fighting over who's eaten the most olives or who's turn it is to sit next to Daddy - they always seem to go off me when we're on holiday!) when you're trying to have a lovely long meal. Sometimes it feels as though it's not even worth the effort!

We came back from PP last week with our two (3 and 5 years old). We didn't manage many nice meals out. We usually end up having something cheap and cheerful by the sea so that the children can play on the sand.

Anyway, we did go to the Balaixa twice. We had a really lovely, relaxed time. The food was fab, service excellent and because the owners have children of their own it all felt very relaxed. We sat outside and the children played on the grass whilst we had a very long, lazy meal and the children's menu was great (expensive though - but worth it).

Have you seen that the indoor play centre in the port (think it's called Fantasy World) do a drop off service where you can leave your children with english speaking carers for a couple of hours to leave you free to have a meal in peace in the evening. We havn't tried it cos I'm a bit funny about leaving my youngest but it does sound tempting.
