Default El Temple

Our daughter told us about this lovely little 'taberna' in Pollensa..she's practically a local now and appears to know everyone in the old town and the Port! She was greeted warmly by the owner and chefs and we had fantastic service for the entire meal.

Situated opposite El Cantonet it appears tiny but there is a pretty courtyard at the back. Very popular with the locals and some interesting and different things on the menu. We had mixed tapas to start which included 'steak pies' which turned out to be delicious spicy tarts filled with minced ox tail Mains included lamb shank which was succulent and fell of the bone and pork fillet in honey and curry sauce (sounds odd but was lovely). These were served with a great selection of vegetables, cooked to perfection and not soggy and swimming in oil as a lot of places seem to do.

Very reasonably priced and one we'll certainly return to ..a good find!

Debs

Ps After the meal Vicki took us to a bar just round the corner for a night cap and to meet her friends. Four La Mumbas later we staggered home...oh dear my head the next day

Default El Temple

Hi Debs

On our recent visit we came on this place, after we had had lunch and I was so dissapointed I hadn't come across it earlier. I remembered what you had said about it and had a good look inside.

I think will deff give it a try next time, there just looks a certain something about it!

Can't win them all unfortunately! >D

If you are facing the church in the square in Pollensa - head up the street that runs between the church and Cafe Espanyol. Follow it round, bearing right, until you arrive at a monument with a cockerel on it. The street that runs up the side of the monument is called something like Montission. If you go up there you will almost immediately find La Font del Gall, and if you carry on up to the end you will find El Temple and Cantonet opposite each other. You will actually be not too far away from the Calvaria steps by this time (just turn left at the end of the road).

Hope that helps

Default El Temple

I agree with everything you say Debz - we found La Taberna del Temple last year when our flight was delayed and arrived very late and it was the only place willing to serve us at 11.45.pm on a Saturday night.

We went 3 times during our week this July.

All the dishes were very tasty and the family favourites were the Pork with honey and curry sauce which you mentioned , the Pork Iberico with a much darker and stronger sauce of plums and apricots, the Chicken Temple and the Lamb.

We never got round to trying the Tapas - Must try those next year!

Default temple restaurant

Hi all,
Just got back home from two weeks in PP and as usual had a great time.
We ate twice at the Temple bar, both times in the outside terrace at the rear of the place.
The guy who runs it has been there for ages and is always very attentive and helpful.
The food as usual was fantastic - definitely recommend it as one of the restaurants a bit "off the beaten track"
