Got back on sunday after great week with friends.
1st night Tango, it has to be (its the law). starters of avocado with prawns, mussels tango style & 2 prawn cocktails, followed by roast chicken, lamb shank with rosemary, pork escalope & salmon, finished off with cream catalana & ice creams with chocolate sauce. Washed down with a mixture of house white for ladies and sangria for the men. With Tango you always know what you are going to get, good efficient service with a smile, decent food and reasonably priced.
2nd night Tiberi, starters, 2 went for the deep fried camanbert, others were garlic prawns & onion rings. main courses (we can only remember 2 as we compiled the list from memory sat in Palma airport) Chicken in pepper sauce & pork in three sauces. No sweets just washed down with white wine and sangria.
3rd night La Goleta, doesn't get much of a mention on forum but we always have one evening there and have never been disappointed with food, service etc. Having said that we can only remember one starter (it was a heavy night that one) garlic prawns, mains were chicken frostiere x 2, John Dory & baked cod. Ladies finished off with crepes cooked at the table, guys finished with irish coffees (several) vaguely remember a good house white wine also.
4th night La Font De Gall, wife & I found this in july and had to take our friends as we really enjoyed it, didn't disappoint. starters of crab cakes in ginger sauce x 2, carpaccio of tuna. mains were salmon wrapped in serrano ham, crispy pork (which is their version of suckling pig i think) & tuna steak, for sweets the ladies had raspberry merange & coulis.
5th night Los Zarales, another favourite, 2 had the deep fried cheese & fruit starters and 2 had mallorcan frito, next course everyone had something different, suckling pig, pork in a mushroom & truffle sauce, chicken stuffed with prawns and baked cod in a herb crust. All plates were empty and no room for puds, just washed down with cava & water.
6th night Tolos, we had the buffet lunch at Formentor
Hotel (Platja Mar restaurant) all you can eat for 35 euros per head, we gave it a good go. Anyway back to tolos, 3 vegetable soups & an avocado with prawns, followed by french omelette, chicken skewers, lasagne & spagetti bolognaise. No wine only beer tonight, even the grumpy waiter smiles at us now, service was spot on.
7th night Maxim, Starters were prawns with pineapple, basket jumbo (small) with mustard & honey and BBQ dips, garlic prawns & stuffed mushrooms, followed by salmon ravioli, baked cod with herb crust, pork in mushroom sauce & tuna steak, sweets were apple crumble & custard x 2, ice cream & cheese board washed down with house white & sangria. I know maxims has had some bad press re service but we couldn't fault it and the consensus was this was probably the best meal of the week, probably.
8th night Tango, its not the law to go on last night but as we left Bonys unsure of where we were going to eat it started to rain so we wanted somewhere indoors and Tango was the nearest (went to maxim previous night). starters of avocado with prawns, soup, prawn cocktail & corn on the cob, mains of 3 steaks, two with pepper sauce & one rockfort, and roast chicken. Had the usual wine, sangria, water and the gents rounded night off with irish coffees.
Slow walk back to hotel and the second half of Barcelona game was about to start, the ladies decided to have early night (packing to do) men had one or two or three more irish coffees, just to help us sleep you understand.
Overall, we didn't have a bad meal or poor service experience but as you can tell from range of restaurants some were better than others. That concludes the scoring from the north east jury!!!!!!!!!!!
