Default Cyclists on the promenade

Just come back after two very happy and enjoyable weeks with my grandchildren - lots of swimming etc. BUT what about all of those cyclists on the promenade - with young children running around there is an accident waiting to happen!

Hi Frank!

Glad you enjoyed your hols.

Agree wholeheartedly re the bikes. They go along especially on the part between the roundabout and the bridge at crazy speed and with a total disregard for young and old alike.

Any cyclists reading BEHAVE YOURSELF!!

Porto!

I had to laugh when I read your last line!

I've just returned from cycling 7 miles around a local reservoir and I don't hang about!

Scattering pedestrians, dogs and courting couples in my wake!

But I'm not guilty of doing that on the Pine Walk!!

I cycle around the Port, and do meander along the paved areas, but if you saw me you'd know I can't go fast!!

Odd Idea this Cyclists beware!. How about children beware?. this is a case where everybody should be careful. neither the Cyclists or the children have the right to disreguard other users on the Prom', respect of the dangers and other users is whats needed.
Parents control your children, cyclists control your speed. And you OAP's slow down with your Zimmers you'll mow someone down if your not careful!!!!.

Rob, Dead easy, just lob a small plastic water bottle (or soft toy etc) into the area of the front wheel. Inertia does the rest! That's from an ex-racing cyclist -and, yes it did occassionaly "happen" when required.

well I have cycled along the front for years and plan to in the future too, and have never caused an accident (not that I am aware of anyway). You just have to be careful and consider everyone else.

I think you have to be considerate at the busiest times along the pine walk particulary in July/August. Which I hope i am.
