Default Breaking - Fire plane Missing

Terrible breaking news from Diario De Mallorca this evening https://www.diariodemallorca.es/. Translation below:-

Quote:
They are looking for an Ibanat plane that disappeared in mid-flight near Pollença. Sources of the Emergency Services suspect that it may have fallen into the sea and at this moment they are searching with aerial means for a trace of it.

A plane from the Ibanat has disappeared in mid-flight on Tuesday afternoon between Cala Sant Vicenç and the urban center of Pollença.

The search operation is being conducted by the Rescue Air Service (SAR) that tracks the area where they lost contact with the aircraft. Sources of the Emergency Services suspect that it may have fallen into the sea and at this moment they are searching with aerial means some trace of it, which was contracted by Ibanat for the fire campaign.

Together with the SAR, the General Directorate of Emergencies, Civil Guard and Maritime Rescue have been dealing with the search by sea in the place of the last position of the plane, in the area of Cala Sant Vicenç, where it is suspected that it was.

Ibanat’s aerial means have participated in the search, but they have retired at nightfall. A SAR plane, however, continues with the tracking of the area and collaborates with them Maritime Rescue.

Looking at the pictures on FB, they are showing one of the smaller planes not the big fire fighting ones, I am not sure if they are using just a stock photo though!

According to the MDB article it's a smaller fire-fighting Air Tractor plane, not one of the bigger ones.
