In what respect? If not sounding, then they certainly were on the hour a couple of weeks ago. Hope all's okay as they're always nice to hear.

Ah, it's not just me then. We are in our second week here and the church bells are not chiming the hour, but they did last week. Still chiming for church services though.

Odd. I wonder if there is an explanation?

Just back from PP and noticed that the clock on the front of the church was also running 30 mins slow so perhaps this had something to do with it?

It seems St Andrews Church has been put into 'moth balls', this did seem quite permanent the last time I was there ... Services & church functions still go one, but this is all held now in a converted shop at, 4 Carrer de Mestral (next right turn after Erosci, marina end of Carrer Juan XXIII).
I'm not a church goer but check it out if you folks are ?

This has nothing to do with the bells chiming the hours

its is a little known fact ... so keep it quiet .... the lack of church bells is two fold .. it is a signal for those in the know that the Oozlum has returned to the port for the winter so that it settles back into its old nest the bells are halted for a undefined length of time. The Clock is also slowed so the Oozlum can also re orientate.

The converted shop has actually been consecrated and as such is the new St Andrews Church. As you say services and functions continue.

Superb, I'm just back from the Port and walking through the square the other day looked at the wrong time on the clock, remembered this thread and was going to post if there was an update on this - perhaps they were just waiting for me to leave.

I look forward to hearing them again next month.
