Question Air Conditioning - Daikin

We had our Daikin system installed 12 years ago. It heats our apartment in winter and keeps us cool in summer - so far so good. We have had no problems in all that time and just regularly clean the filters.
However we fear that the thunder and lightening in April this year might have caused a problem.
Most local AC providers who have looked at the problem suggest we change our installation to Mitsubishi or Panasonic - at huge cost!!!

Does any member also have Daikin AC?
We are looking to get an "official" Daikin technician as no one else can obtain spare parts quickly from Daikin.

Hi Glentobay, We also have Daikin a/c, fitted in 2004.
There are only two Daikin engineers on the island, and they both live in Palma.
We have had exactly the same problem where our lounge Daikin unit was hit by lightening and fried the inverter PCB board, which is inside the outdoor condenser unit.
We always use Confort, in Puerto Pollensa, their engineer Juanco, who has a very good understanding of Daikin systems. He contacted the Daikin engineers in Palma who in turn ordered the new PCB board from Madrid and you can imagin that it was a long painful process to get the part to the island, about 3 weeks, but once the part arrived, the Daikin engineer drove up from Palma, fitted it and re-commissioned the system.
Confort also sorted out a small leak this year for us.
We recommend you do not use Panasonic as Mitsubushi and Daikin are currently the best a/c equipment on the market at the moment in my view.

The whole job cost us 748€ then.

The above has been dictated to me by my husband who works within the a/c industry. Hope this helps.
eleanor and glentobay like this.
