Default Satelite Receiver / Hard Disc Recorder

Does anyone have a Satelite receiver with integral hard disc recorder installed and working here? My reason for asking is that I presume that, as with the original Sky digibox, some will work better in weak signal areas than others. Donīt want to make an expensive mistake.

We have an FTE box with a dish on the roof. It does not give SKY obviously though, but all the basic channels - probably equivalent to our FREEVIEW.
We recommend you talk to Confort as they are brilliant at helping out, supplying and installing etc what ever you want.
The London ITV station gradually gives up about 9pm in bad weather, but when we switch over to Wales ITV its as clear as a bell! Something to do with the satellite being in the wrong position at night or something.....so Juan says!

We tried a Sky plus box but could not get it to work and bought a free view box from comfort, but as it works for fil it's worth trying.

We had the original Sky digibox but when we upgraded to Sky HD here in the UK it left us with a spare Sky + box which we took over to PP. We got Ocean TV (they installed our dish originally) to come up, they ran an extra cable (LNB i think it's called) to enable us to record and watch at the sme time, as in the UK. It's brilliant, never miss any of my favorite program's now. We just have to remember to take our Sky card over with us to receive all the channels on our package, you can still get basic channels without a card though but you can only watch these, you cannot record without a Sky subscription.

Deanscroft, we will be purchasing a freesat box with hard drive recorder when we go to the UK,this will work off of the existing sky aerial. We do have 2 leads from the aerial though. The Sky + recorder only works if you have sky contract for one of their packages not just the freeview card.
