I think that if you really want to eat out in the evenings (at different places) & not to drive i.e. walk, then you may prefer somewhere nearer in to the Port. The first one is, I think, quite high up in Gommar (& may be quite a walk) & the second is in Cala San Vicente - which is lovely - but does not have many places to eat.

Does anyone have any suggestions that are nearer to the centre?

Why not look on this site under Villas/Apts to rent
choose area etc Marina in central to all.
But with Kids South Sandy beach would also be good 10/15 minute walk to centre.

Agree with pollensa and snowy ( the cheeky little monkey ;) ) most of the villas are in the country side and therefore to far to walk into town. You would probably find it far more convenient to rent an apartment in the Port.

Hello

I do lknow Gotmar area where cel gotmar apts.are located, just to warn you, this area is full on building works going on at the moment. I think can corios is also a property located in the same area.

Mostel - you make it sound like it's full of views of builders bums and wolf whistling brickies!! There are a few sites being worked on, as there are all over the port, but it's not that bad - despite a local estate agent declaring that he had the last building plot for sale a couple of years ago!!!

They are a better class of builder though in Gommar!

Hi kazzer101 - having just defended my beloved area, you might think of looking a little closer to the centre of the port if you have a couple of young ones and a hubby who might want to enjoy a glass or two of the local wines as I do.

Gommar area is a quiet, affluent, residential area but is a 15/20 minute walk into the heart of the port. I struggle to get my 14 and 17 year olds to walk it, rather than take the car - unless they are going with friends, of course!!!

I can account the number of building works going on at the moment in Gotmar area and today they have just started another one. At the moment Gotmar area is not that quiet!! sorry for beeing honest.

I live in an apartment block where there's building work going on in 3 of the 4 plots surrounding us (and the 4th is a pathway which will be 'done up' as part of building the new road). Still a quieter area than in the centre of the Port (yes, honestly) but I wouldn't recommend coming for a holiday in the Gommar area for at least this summer...

Villa Help

Sadly PP is a victim of it's own success. If the building work isn't in Gommar, it is the new by-pass or the marina or in Bouqer, lots in llenarae, countless fill-ins of spaces in the port and Taylor-Woodrow seem to have the current monopoly!! Some of us have little choice but to holiday in PP and still love it but it is a far cry from when I first visited in the late 60's. So much for the ban on new buildings!!

Re: Villa Help

There is a lot of building work in Gommar at the moment but it does usually quiten down in summer. I dont think Celgotmar would really be affected that much any way. GG is right in that it is a good walk to the port I think a taxi is about 8 euros. The position is stunning though and it appears these appartments have a view of the bay (some dont). The complex wasnt very busy last year (I dont think that many of the appartments have been sold) and it looked as though at times you could have the pool to yourself. Id say a car was essential if you stayed here.

Hello there - not sure if you have already booked your villa but travel club of upminster have a very comfortable 3 bed villa (Can Rotger)with a lovely pool and garden but within very easy walking distance of Pollença town and its great choice of restaurants and therefore a car would not necessary and you and hubby can enjoy those lovely mallorcan wines at your leisure whilst the youngsters join the others playing around the town square. Hope this helps.
Good luck wherever you choose.
