Default Garden Creatures

My husband was removing 3 dead bushes from our small garden. He shouted to me ‘come and look at this!’ - at about 20cm deep there was a worm like creature which was nearly as thick as his little finger and about 20cm long after he dug it out. A similar sized worm was dug out the second hole. On the third hole a monster emerged which was about 30cm - a foot long! It took some digging out to establish its size. Is this just a large worm or is it something else?

I reckon they are Lumbricus Postandrilus earthworms. By digging it up, you might have opened up a 'Majorcan of worms'!

Please be kind to them as some are thought to be unique to the islands.

Here's all (and more) than you might need to know about these chaps:

Thanks - there have been mud mounds in our grass and we have seen these disappearing when we have removed them. Maybe next time we will try and take a picture if we find one.
