Default BMI BABY - Changing Flights

Thought I would just let you know about my experience with BMI Baby yesterday

Just before Christmas I booked 4 flights from Manchester to Palma and return for end of April.... go out Sunday come back Thursday - would have preferred to fly back on the Sunday but at the time I booked, the price for a weekend flight back was really high

Yesterday I noticed the flight price for Palma to Manchester on the Sunday was £16 plus tax........ Which when compared with the £6.99 plus tax I had originally paid for the Thursday flight made it (in my mind) a reasonable price for a Flight Change.... and of course once I had made my mind up , I was having 3 more days in PP so NOTHING was changing it back again

So, with expectations of paying £25 each to change the flight plus £9 difference between the flight process I started the on line process

And low and behold........... Despite the advertised price for new bookings being £16 plus tax ....... the advertised price for the SAME FLIGHT via the "change my booking link” was £32 plus tax

I phoned the call centre and argued........... To no avail, - the £16 was as a result of a 50% off promotion and was only available for return flights

As I was only changing to return leg they compared it against the price for a one way flight , despite the fact that I was actually taking a return flight.

By then I was so taken with idea that we were going for a week and not 4 days that I bit the bullet and changed the booking ...........

Left me with a bitter taste though

Hi, regarding experiences with BMI Baby I too have had problems with them over the weekend. Several weeks ago, I booked for my family and I to fly out to Mallorca in April. On Friday I received an email regarding a schedule change. I am used to BMI Baby changing the flight times by several hours, but this was several days. We were due to fly out on the 15th April but BMI stated this flight was cancelled and had instead booked us on a flight on the 13th April - which is not convenient at all for us. I rang them up and they eventually agreed to refund my money (after being offered numerous alternative dates, which I declined). I asked for confirmation of the amount I would receive and the operator confirmed it was the original amount LESS the credit card booking fee as the Bank charges them!!!! I stated my case until I was blue in the face that I should be refunded to me as it was BMI that changed my flight - I was not responsible in any shape or form and therefore should not have to pay this fee. I asked to be put through to a Manager and was told she was busy and I had to write in to complain. I dont see why I should pay when they cancelled my flight! On top of this I managed to find alternative flights on the dates I wanted with another airline, but as you may have guessed they were obviously more expensive, plus I had to pay again for a credit card booking fee! In total I am over £100 plus worse off, and due to the time of the new flight, I lose three quarters of a day of my holiday. Great. Needless to say on principal I will be writing to BMI and strongly putting my case forward for the credit card booking fee to be reimbursed: why should we pay???

I wish you well with your attempt to extract what you are duly owed from BMI. We had flights cancelled in January that we booked in September. BMI retained the quite ridiculous £28 credit card charges which are "non-refundable".

My reward for making an interest-free loan of £745 to BMI? £28 charge!

Won't fly with them again!
