I got a shock when I looked at J2's price for similar dates for 2 people - I think it was £680approx! Have now booked with Monarch - still a lot more expensive than this year but more than £100 cheaper.

I can go one better... I looked yesterday for our family of four for the same week and was quoted £3634.84 for BA from Heathrow!!

I think we will give up on this half term week as it is just not good value for money. We have not been the last 2 years due to GCSE revision cvlass commitments for the kids and thought we could try it again but.....
I find Easter so much better value and although the weather is not as warm it can be good. You can't guarantee the weather for May half term anyway.

Jet2 always are horrendously expensive EJ for us every time, but over 3 grand is way off the scale.

Cath, we often use the Irish one as you put it and can find no fault especially now they allow the extra bag for all passengers.

Booked flights to Malaga in October for a long weekend with "The Irish One" and they changed the flight times to give us a short weekend instead! Changed to EJ for a bit more money, which is what we should have done in the first place! Won't ever fly with Monach again as they're forever changing flight times.

Dont tell me that about Monarch !! We are useing them for Malaga at Christmas

British Airways changed our flights 3 times last Christmas so I hope for no changes this time Several years ago British Airways changed the Airport once and the flight times twice then planned a strike at that time so we cancelled !

Easyjet have always been very relaible for us no changes yet !

Default Summer flights from the north

I've just completed flight bookings/preflight hotel/airport parking/transfers. My wallet is considerably lighter. Well, not really, I paid with plastic but you know what I mean.

As far as flights were concerned, the following prices were quoted on Skyscanner over the last couple of days for flights from Liverpool, Manchester and Leeds/Bradford - my 'local' airports. These prices were for sensibly timed out and back, circa 0700 out, daylight return. All were quoted for Sat 13 Aug out, Sat 27 Aug return. Our apartment can only be booked Saturday to Saturday.

Liverpool £363, £462 0940/2355, £565 0940/1350

Manchester £302 for both 1710/1100 and 1710/2130 flights

Leeds/Bradford £328 1620/2105, £340 1620/1110, £420 1620/1345

These were the cheapest quoted by Skyscanner. Other combinations of flights were considerably more expensive. The prices quoted do not include bags and seats etc.

So what did I book? Well counter intuitively looked to the north, away from PP.

Booked with the 'Irish One' through Edinburgh, base price £190, with extras, bags and seats etc £250 per person. 0730 out, 1210 back.

A few weeks back the base price was £150 and the flights south of the border, quoted above, were somewhat higher.

Job done! Sit back and relax now

Wink Your Hols And Mine

Hi Clinkham

Well it seems that you and I and families are on hols in PP from 13th to 27th together - look forward to the pint!!!!

Anyway, because of all trouble in Greece, Turkey, France, Cyprus, Egypt, Tunisia, etc. flights are at a premium - be thankful you got some!!

By the way, who did you book with?

John
