Ẁow! I thought this was a One off, we booked our flights back with Monarch 6 months ago,
3 weeks ago they asked us to change our flights from 3in the afternoon too 3 in the morning, I agreed thinking the afternoon flight had been cancelled (as the wording on my email from Monarch certainly implied that), imagine my surprise 1 day before flying at finding the original flight was still going out.obviously they do this because they can get more bookings on the more convenient times , this is disgraceful behavior & we should all expose this scam.
since revealing it to fellow passengers on the flight at least 40% had received the same treatment . This has to STOP.in my opinion.

At time of booking many months ago I had a straight choice (similar sort of prices) between Monarch & Jet2 - for afternoon flights. Chose Monarch as their flight time was slightly earlier. Months later they changed the afternoon flight into an evening flight; I'm not happy and wish I'd chosen Jet2. (Just checked and fortunately there's not the 'scam' reported above).

I would not worry Rosie, it does not appear to happen on every flight, only when they are busy & can get more flights squeezed in.
Although it happened to my brother & his family 1 week before & my cousins family.
I think this kind of practice should be exposed & nipped in the bud, before they all start doing it.

I got an email from Monarch this week announcing their 2015 LBA flight schedule. and the times have changed dramatically - and not for the best Their previous flight time was 6.50am out and 11.30 back - now the outward flight is at 5pm and the return at 21.35 so I am glad I have booked from Manchester now as these flight times are no good for us
