0-0 and 4 games to go with only one against a team in the top half. Still 6 points clear.

Villareal B (0-0) and Elche (3-3) both drew so the gap is 8 points to 2nd and 9 points to 3rd with three to play.

Two points from last 3 games will secure the group 3 title .... and then the fun begins.

Other group winners have also still to be decided but as it stands Rayo Majadahonda look favourities for group 1, Sporting Gijon II head Group 2 (but Mirandes are only 2 pts behind them) whilst Cartegena lead Marbella by 2 points in Group 4. Sporting Gijon II will not be allowed to be promoted unless their first team, who are currently 2nd in Segunda, are also promoted to La Liga.

I see Barca B are in the relegation zone in the 2nd Div, show Barca's squad problems this season, could pass Mallorca going the other way!!!

Unfortunately not yet. They’ve won their group (of 4) in Second B. They now need to win in the playoffs against the winners of the other Second B groups.

The 4 group winners are seeded by the number of points they get with highest playing 4th and 2nd play 3rd over 2 legs. The two winners are promoted (they also play each other for the league championship title).

It is complex but basically teams who finshed 2nd and 4th in each group play each other and the ones who finished 3rd also play each other. The winners of those games are joined by the two losers from the group winners games and eventually two more clubs are promoted.

My error - they are not seeded. The four group winners are drawn out of a hat - draw on Monday afternoon.

* Mallorca got over the line and made it into the play-offs after a brilliant campaign in which we only lost five games. We were the second highest scorers (51) only bettered by Elche, 54, and we had the best goals against stat with 27. We've led Group III for 31 games, going top and staying there from 1 October.
...
Now comes the hard part. As to the all-important play-offs, rumour has it they'll take place on 20 and 27 May. Likely opponents are Rayo Majadahonda, Mirandes or Cartagena. Mirandes are the team who virtually put us down to Segunda B last season and are the only team we could do well to avoid. Cartagena in the Murcia region would be the most accessible to Mallorca fans with a sea crossing a cheap option.

So Real Mallorca are joined in the championship play-offs with the following group winners:

Group 1 - Real Majadahonda (who were 2-0 up before being pegged back to 2-2 and then 3-2 up before finally drawing 3-3 in their final game but the point was enough as Real Club Deportivo seconds could only draw 0-0 when they needed to win)

Group 2 -Mirandes (all top three sides who could have won the League all won but Mirandes 1-0 win was enough - all three teams achieved more points than Majorca in the season)

Group 4 - FC Cartengena (who drew 0-0 - they only needed a point although second placed Marbella won so they there were probably some late heart stopping moments for them).

Draw for the play-offs which are over two legs is made tomorrow with the games being next Sunday and the week after. The winners of the two ties are promoted, the losers go into further play-offs against the teams finishing 2nd, 3rd and 4th in each division.

Real Mallorca will take on Mirandés from Burgos province in their play-off chosen from the winners of the four groups in Segunda B.

Mirandés had the best record in terms of points tally of the four group winners. Their 76 points were three more than Mallorca's, but they lost three more games than Mallorca - eight versus five. Of the three potential opponents, they were probably the one that Mallorca least fancied. They are also familiar opponents as they were relegated from the second division along with Mallorca at the end of the 2016-2017 season.

The first leg of the play-off is due to be at Mallorca's Son Moix Stadium, kick-off 12 midday on 20 May. The return leg is scheduled for 27 May at 6pm, though TV may decide otherwise.
