If you only have time to do one day trip - try this one since you get to see so much in one day.

First get to Palma by bus or car - if driving we always park in the underground car park of El Corte Ingles (department store). Next take the old fashioned train to Soller. There is a tourist one at around 10:40 that has a 'photo' stop. The scenery is lovely through the orange groves. Look at these web sites www.sollernet.com/trendesoller/en1.html and www.todoesp.es/trensoller/html/centro.html You arrive in the lovely town of Soller a nice spot for lunch and/or ice cream. Then you take the tram down to Port de Soller - a seaside resort - OK for an hour or two. Finally you take the bus back to Palma. The bus goes through Deya & various mountain villages (saves having to drive it yourself!) before arriving back in Palma. You can get a bus direct to Pto Pollensa if you didn't leave your car in Palma, but you miss out on the mountain route.

Palma - Soller

Another twist on this journey is to take the local bus from Porto Pollensa up the mountains to Soller. Run down into Port Soller on the tram, and back again. Take the train across the mountains into Palma, and finally the bus back to porto Pollensa. You'll have to double check the train times from Soller to Palma but it's a great day out.

Puerto Pollensa-Puerto Soller trip

We have frequently made this trip by getting the early morning bus into Palma. Then getting the tourist train to Soller. This train stops for photos on the way through the mountains. Then we take the tram into Puerto Soller and have lunch and a swim, before getting the bus to Puerto Pollensa, which drives through the mountains, stopping at Lluc and Cala San Vicente on the way. This is a great round trip, with wonderful scenery.
