Hubby and son played at the golf club here, they went the day before and booked an early tee as it was so hot. Afterwards they had a look at the hotel as I had expressed an interest, when they described it to me I was very interested:eek so we went for a drink one evening and I arranged some spa treatments, she was quite booked up so it would be as well to give plenty of notice if you wanted to do that, and then we spoke to reception about coming for the day and they were completley cool about the whole thing.
However, I am sure they regulate the numbers there, turning up on spec might not be such a great idea apart from a drink or lunch or dinner or whatever. They really look after you there, if your credit card is in better shape than you are you can have a very restorative day there!:x

Penny,

My daughter and I are coming to PP in October .

She is only 12 but pretty mature for her age and certainly knows how to behave herself .I know she would absolutely love to spend the day there with me ........ we have often spoken about having a day or weekend at a spa when she is older.

I know I could email them and ask whether or not they have age limits but knowing you have already been there , I am interested in your opinion re suitability.

First, in answer to question posted in the Formentor Hotel bit (concentrate people!), as above, I had been to the hotel and talked to the people in reception first so they were expecting us. Also, I had booked two spa treatments, and they could only fit me in at 10 am and 7 pm, so oh dear what a shame, I had to spend the whole day there! I booked my son in for a Sports massage too, and his was at 6.20.
The spa is definitely able to be used by non residents, so if we were not using the pool not sure we would have been welcome, and I am sure they regulate the numbers so things stay calm and peaceful there.

Secondly, the girl at the spa, Joanna, was really nice and spoke perfect English, it was the first time my son had gone for anything like that so I would think she would be very nice to a younger girl... the treatment rooms are pretty small so she would be there on her own, if she would be happy with that. best plan I would think would be to go up there for a drink early one evening and talk to them about it, the spa officially is only open until I think 6pm but she obviously keeps going until later if things are busy, so go about 5ish when someone will be around from the spa. There is another girl as well I think.
There is a website, www.sonbrull.com, have a look!
Trying to remember prices, I think 90 euros for the geothermal treatment, about 60 for massage, less for the sport one... prices compare very well with the UK, particularly as the setting is so special.
Well, I liked it, hope anyone who goes on my recommendation does too!

Re: Son Brull

Thanks Penny

Think I will send them an email ......... I'd just assumed you could buy a day pass for general access and then buy extra treatments if you wanted to ........ bit like some of the spas in england. So my plan was for us both to attend, for me to get a massage or facial and for daughter to have a manicure or similar ......... but for us both to have the pleasure of spending the whole day there including a nice lunch ....... not sure from your post that that would be ok ....... will post my findings once I get a reply

Re: Son Brull

it is quite a small 'boutique' type hotel which specialises in restorative breaks rather than a big place with lots of facilities. Worth trying though.

For those who are interested, I got a prompt and welcoming reply to my email

Use of facilities: exterior swimming-pool, interior pool, Jacuzzi, sauna and Turkish bath, is 60 Euros per person, but if you book treatments in the Spa you can use the facilities for the day for 30 Euros per person

I asked them if there was a lower age limit, the reply didn't say there wasn't but did say that my daughter and I would be most welcome ...... so it's certainly something to think about ............... could work out a bit pricy but only the cost of a really good dinner for 2 and lifes about giving yourself a few treats now and then isn't it.

Re: Son Brull

I'm sure you won't regret it, take you camera too, it is quite a place.
And report back!

We didn't get to Son Brull

We were so fortunate wit hthe weather when we were over a few weeks ago .... it was beautiful, we were in the sea every day.

So didn't feel the need to visit Son Brull

Sure we will sometime though

We had to go here yesterday on a bit of business. A neighbour of ours works here, and on our arrival, she ran up and hugged and kissed us, and promptly invited us for breakfast by the pool (on the house). Fantastic!! She then showed us around all the facilities, including a delux suite, I think she said about 700 euros a night!!.
Very enjoyable, and we will be back again,.... as soon as there is another meal on the house
