Default Visit to Palma Aquarium

We arrive on 17th October and were thinking that if we get any rainy days we might get the bus to Palma and possibly visit the aquarium. Does anyone know if it's possible to get to the aquarium on the bus or is it actually quite a long way out of the city centre ? Any advice much appreciated !

Being bored with tv, I just google it and looks like it would take under two hours. The 340 bus from Puerto Pollensa goes into Palma , then you need to get another one to the aquarium. Google "bus from Puerto Pollensa to Palma Aquarium" and have a look.

Palma Aquarium is off motorway junction 10 after the airport direction Llucmayor. You could use public transport but it would be cheaper to book up as an excursion, either with a tour operator or No Frills excursions.

It is really easy to get to the aquarium by bus, PP to Palma underground bus station, then a bus to the aquarium from the bus station. It would probably be better to go up to street level to get a city bus (blue), any bus with Platja de Palma will take you past the aquarium and there is a stop right outside, it only takes about 10 mins, the buses are about every 10 mins. The tourist information in PP or the one on the street in Palma as you come out of the bus station would be able to help.

Probably better to get there early to take full advantage of the admission charge.

Thanks all for the great advice! I'm weighing up the pros and cons of using public transport against joining an excursion like 'no frills' perhaps. I'm not normally keen on excursions because of all the pick ups and drop offs making the journey feel like it's never ending, but we'll see...

I will add that the Aquarium is definitely worth a visit. We've been there 3 or 4 times now over the years of our sporadic visits to PP, and it has always been an enjoyable trip. It's certainly not the cheapest option for a day out, but you do get value for money and there's a lot more to look at than the majority of SeaLife Centres in the UK.

There's plenty of food options and a well stocked shop.

If you've got kids, they'll love it - our small person was about 2 when we first went, and was 6 when we last visited in 2013. We're coming back to PP next year (and not a moment too soon!) when she will be 9, and I'm sure the Aquarium will still be on the list of places she wants to visit!

Thanks for the info kcdc. Our daughter's 13 but even at 13 she loves aquariums and it does sound like the one at Palma is a good one and worth a visit. It's definitely on our things to do list

We've not yet been but I've only ever heard good reviews about it for what it's worth. Apparently it's a very good day out.

Its big enough to justify a day out, with a good outside area for kids if the weather isn't great.

However, the star of the show is the shark tank, often there are speakers describing (in multiple languages) the different sharks and then head down to the scatter cushions at the bottom of the full height glass wall - you could lie there for hours watching the sharks glide by
