According to the Daily Bulletin the Mallorca Classic Car Rally which was featured on Top Gear last year starts next Thursday.I think the rally passes Pollensa and the port next Saturday if I'm reading the article correctly ?

Don't get out to PP until next Sunday.Just my luck !!!

Yes, unfortunately you are right. Followed a few links through and definately finishes at Pollensa round about 6pm on the Saturday 27th :( I SO wish I hadn't known about it now, as we don't get out until the Monday! I suppose we should have been a bit more on the ball and tried to find out earlier Labore! One year we will actually manage to see it!:)

I miss this every year, and every year I say maybe next time, I always forget though.....

Yep, seen them all. Stop rubbing it in Mark! Actually, didn't we say last year that it was up to you to find out the dates this year?!;)

What a pity ...... we too will miss it

Ok Mark you are now the official Rally Monitor for next year

If we miss it again it's your fault and you have to pay a penalty of 2 sizable Mojitos for Bella and I to collect from a bar of our choice next time each of us is out ..... but don't tell Debz or they;ll be gone by the time we get there lol :):):)

LOL! Good one CD! Looks like you have been railroaded Mark, but I'm sure if will be one of us girls who gets it sorted! Challenge? ;)

:D I will be checking the rally website regularly :)

I never understand why locals sometimes complain about a lack of tourists in the winter months, but then dont make much effort at all to let tourists know what goes on out of season... a missed opportunity really.

To be honest Mark i think you are being a bit unfair to the locals, the information is passed on as soon as it's available. One of the biggest reasons for a lack of winter tourists is that the airlines have stopped flying to the island. In the last couple of days i have met up with people who were desperate to come out for a winter break but could not get a flight. :)

Too right cd :p

We shoud definitely all try to get out for this next year! It's a shame the Rally and the Wine Festival aren't a bit closer date wise. That really would be a fun winter break :)

I am a bit harsh, Sorry about that.

I wish there was a way to subscribe to a email newsletter that was updated by some official person at the tourism office or wherever that let people know when events that might be interesting to out of season tourists where planned.

Fiestas, wine festivals, car rallies must all be planned well ahead and I would like to visit more often out of season.
I need a few months notice to plan time off work and look for flights etc so I can spend some money in the local restaurants. :)

Mark, i think you missed my point, if the airlines stop flights in the winter, it doesn't matter how much notice of events is given..........you won't be able to get here. For example Sant Antoni is always on the same date, and i have friends who desperately wanted to come over for it, they could not get a flight. It is so frustrating .

Don't worry it was just a lot of old cars driven by mainly a lot of old men, mainly a lot of old German men.The only good thing was that Clarkson and his infantile co presenters didnt come.;)

No flights to the island!!!!
When you want to get here that bad (normally the case with us) then dont just look for direct,go via Madrid,Barcelona or Valencia.A couple of hours max delay on a direct flight, and the added option of seeing two of Europes top cities if you want too!The prices are very reasonable with Iberia.

Re flights - Have they tried Monarch,i think they fly all winter to Palma, ive booked with them 1st wk october
Monarch Airlines | Cheap Flights

Oh well done Mark! I have only just seen your post since being back home. I cant seem to get the info from the site, but will certainly be seeing if we can get over on those dates. :) It IS very close to the Wine Festival though!

Good thing is that both Monarch and Easyjet are flying through the winter though!

Seriously thinking of coming over for this as we need to come over fpor a few days before April and can;t get flights for St Antoni so this date seems a good option

Is the Pollensa stage always the finish ? ..... important because our flight would be early on 10th

Hi cd. Can find nothing to confirm stages at this point on any links. Most say "Event details can change", so I dont think they know themselves for sure, but it will definately run through the area at some point, just keep checking their website for updates I suppose. Not managing those dates ourselves next year - opting for the wine instead!;)
PS. check your PM's.

I have checked the Rally website and now know that the cars are in Pollensa on the morning of Saturday 12th

Does anyone know where abouts they will be / where is best to watch ?

Just passed a lovely few mins checking out their website myself and drooling over the cars!

The only thing I can suggest is to look at the videos TC09 Campanet - Pollenca and TC10 Pollensa - Lluc, in their section Rally 2011, and see if there is a section to set yourself up for a few hours. All looks very peacefull on the video but I can imagine there will be a few more spectators on the days of the rally!
