Yes the 2nd, see you there, you should try to get there for the whole week leading up to the battle, theres lots of things on in the day and evenings with live music every night in the square.

An update can be found at this link www.culturapollensa.com Unfortunately, it is in Mallorquin/ Spanish or German?

The bones of it confirm the main 'battle day' as Sunday August 2, with the day starting with a traditional Alborada (Auborada) of Hymns by the Pollensa Music Bans at 5 in the morning in the Plaza Major.

The next event sarts at 11am which appears to involve the local major making some kind of offering followed by kids doing traditional dancing in the main church and in the main square in Pollensa.

There are various acts and events through out the day and at 18.00 there is the parade of the antique virgin statue through the streets.

At 19.00, the Moros y Cristianos kicks off. They basically battle their way through the streets with lots of painted up Moors and Christians who you often faintly recognise as local bar tenders, shop assitants and other worthies, fair maidens in their white linen smocks and espadrilles, gun shots, shouts, songs and a fair amount of boozy cuddles and squeezes which culminates in a everyone together to witness fireworks. Last year this gathering was at the waste ground just off the PP to Soller road roundabout on the PP side of Pollensa, my translation skills cannae work out if it will be the same this year??

I attended with my wife and 8 and 10 year old boys last year for the first time in Pollensa and thoroughly enjoyed it!

August 2nd Agenda in Spanish & my attempt at translation:

05 h. Tradicional Alborada en la Plaza Mayor/ Early Morning Hymns in the Main Square
12:45 h. Entrega de premios y distinciones y actuación de la Banda de Música de Pollensa en la Iglesia de Monti-sion - Pollensa Music Band play some traditional tunes at the Monti Sion Church
13 h. Refresco para todo el pueblo en el patio del ayuntamiento - Refreshments for all the town in the Town Hall Patio
17 h. Pasacalle a cargo de la Tropa de cornetas y tambores del Soldà - Trumpet & Drum band through the streets
18 h. Procesión con la antigua imagen de la Patrona y tradiciones de la vila (para el buen desarrollo de la procesión este año el itinerario será al revés con el fin de evitar el atasco en la Almoina) - The parade of the antique virgin statue through the streets.
19 h. Simulacro de Moros y Cristianos - The Moors & Christians battle
21:30 h. Tedeum de Mosén Miquel Tortell, en acción de gracias y canto de los Goigs de Costa i Llobera - Thanks, prayers and hymns
21:30 h. Interpretación de la Alborada y el Visca Pollensa por la Banda de Música de Pollensa - The band play 'Long Live Pollensa'
24 h. Castillos de fuego y fuegos artificiales en la Vía Pollentia. A cargo de Pirotècnia Jordà. - Bonfires and fireworks in the Via Pollentia by Jordà pyrotechnics.
