Hello all :)

Many thanks for having me here on the forum - I've been reading loads of posts and enjoying your insights and wit! Very excited for our trip to PP in July.

Just wondering - would you guys generally recommend getting an airport transfer or just getting the public bus from Palma?

Thanks!

I'd say there's good and not so good points for every kind of transfer.
We've done taxi, bus transfer, private shuttle and rental car.

Best value is probably the bus from Palma or the bus transfer...
The private shuttle is a great compromise and the taxi is a great time saver...

It depends on your budget, your traveling party, your luggage and other requirements (e.g. child seat, wheel chair).

You can pick and mix for the arrival and the return.

Enjoy your trip to PP

To take the bus you will need to take the bus from airport to Palma - 3 EUR - & then bus to Palma 6.30 EUR (see .puertopollensa.com/transport-taxis-bus-trains.html#buses - so 9:30 EUR in total & a bit of a pain!

The shuttle with someone such as ResortHoppa currently costs £14.66 (with 10% discount) plus there's a code with another 15% off here http://www.forum.puertopollensa.com...rthoppa-25-discount-ends-31st-may-2014-a.html

so not a massive difference & much easier. But if there are several of you a taxi costs 77 EUR so worth considering too.

Taxi costs

We have booked our taxi for our trip and the cost is 73euros .

We had used Resort Hoppa and can recommend them. In fact we taxi up and get resort Hoppa back . Not so bothered about time on the way back but when I land in Palma I cannot be bothered with the waiting around for others to be picked up .

Just want the holiday to start ASAP!

I paid 73 euros pre-booked with Conde taxis last month. I think you'll always pay more from the taxi rank plus they often charge on top for luggage.

Thanks everyone - great tips. Was a bit dubious if ResortHoppa was worth it versus the bus, but I think you're right about the faff:cost ratio, Pollensa ;)

I reckon ResortHoppa on the way there and then maybe the bus on the way back as our flight's not till 7.30 in the eve so if we leave early we could have a look round Palma beforehand :)

Conde Taxis

We have booked with Conde Taxis for June and used them last year as well .

Very reliable Co.

Getting to resort

Maybe worth pointing out that the Resorthoppa price quote at £14 is for the return journey so really much cheaper than the public bus at the moment. The Forum discount code gets the price down to £12.88 and it really is a lot less hassle if you have luggage.

Taxi for 5

I have just had a quote from Conde for 95 euros each way for 5 of us. Does that seem reasonable, seems a lot to me! Thanks.

I think that is about right, the basic charge is for up to 4 people but as you are 5 they will charge more :).

We've paid 73 euros for 2 adults and 1 child over several occasions recently with Conde so as Sparky says that sounds about right to me.

They are very good. Nice clean, comfy vehicles. Well recommended IMO.

We paid 95 euros each way last year for 6 of us - with Zarza Taxis, who were excellent.

We have had visitors use Conde taxis and Zarza taxis for 5 people and both charge 95€. Both also provide an excellent service :)

Fair enough, thank you, counting the days!

Also worth mentioning that although hoppa is cheaper than the public bus and appears to be a more straightforward option it can be troublesome. There can be a wait of up to 45mins from the time you get onto the bus to it being ready to leave and if you have the basic package you could be at the end of a long series of drop offs or start of long pick up route on your return journey .... Just remember the days of package holidays when you had to sit on a poorly air conditioned coach whilst you travelled around what seemed like all the hotels in the area. Some people will be lucky but there are always going to be someone at the end of the line.

However there is a compromise which is the Hoppa speedy deal ...... About twice the Basic so still only around 13 euros each way and you are guaranteed to have no more than 3 stops before you or after you on the return leg ..... Also in summer months you will sometimes be shuttled in a minibus rather than a coach, although this is not guaranteed.

So my vote would be , if you are looking after the pennies and there are less than 4 of you, the speedy hopper is the best choice, otherwise a cab.

Of course if you want the use of a car once in PP and are not over for a long period of Time then it makes sense to hire one at the airport as the carhire cost is often less than the return cab fare

We were always the last to be dropped off with the kids after a tour of the whole island, i suppose that's what you get for staying the furthest from the airport! That's why we would never use a transfer and stick to the bus, although a taxi back is so tempting at times, especially when its 40C and you just want to get to the airport as quickly as possible!

We have used RH a lot in the past and have never waited longer than 45 mins at the airport and they headed straight to PP, making ours one of the first drops. The same on the return journey, always one of the last to be picked up. I must admit I did feel sorry for all the other souls on the bus that must have been on for ages! For us though a great service.;)

Hi ..... Same here until one occasion ..... Oven an hour and still in Alcudia with no air con ..... Wont risk basic package anymore ..... The speedy is a good deal though if just 1 or 2 of you
