Well, that season has flown by. Seems only two minutes since everyone was wondering if the road works would be finished in time for the first visitors of the season and when the umbrellas were going to be installed.

As there are a number of months breathing space till the umbrellas return next year, perhaps those in charge could consider the position and density of them, particularly the new ones with flowing fronds (for want of a better description). Those installed on the 'Pine Walk' beaches were so tightly packed that it was sometimes difficult to take in the view of the bay - the view that is part of the USP of PP.

There were so many tightly packed umbrellas that there was very little space for people who didn't want to use the umbrellas or those with children who wanted to play the traditional beach games and activities.

Hopefully next year they will be able to reallocate a suitable number of the Pine Walk brollies to the wide open spaces the other side of the marina.

Or not use them at all !

Couldnt see any advantage to them myself only disadvantages We do use the wide part of the beach but saw the beds and brollies on the Pine Walk but only in the morning earlyish so not many people and it looked crowded then

Lets hope they dont invest in more and next year everything is out at a reasonable time of year not almost July !

I totally agree Clinkham - too many umbrellas spoiling the view and most of them not being used. the density on the Pine walk by Little Italy was too much.

There should be no delays next year as the contract runs for 4 years .

I also agree that the shaggy umbrellas are so closely packed together they really block the view of the bay, and you are practically sitting with the people next door! Unnecessary and pointless and 7€ more a day than the 'old fashioned ones'. 15€ is way over the top, but 22€ for two beds and an umbrella that needs a good haircut is ridiculous

I'm hoping that this years positioning may well have something to do with the lateness of installation and hurry once authorisation was given. This perhaps gave little time for a 'planned' operation.

While I seem to be intune with my fellow forumites.... try this one: large numbers of pedestrians on the Pine Walk this year causing difficulties in making headway against oncoming walkers - any mileage in having a pedestrian one way system?

I agree too on the density and on the beach between the Daina and Miramar I counted only 3 out of the 21 being used on a day in mid August! In previous years you had to be down there at the crack of dawn to bag one of these!
Surely 21 x 15€ is better than 3 x 22€??
And don't get me started on the beaches littered with the fronds that had fallen off the umbrellas....

Even with the 15 Euro ones I saw more people bringing their own brollies and seats this year so Im sure if they expand the 21 Euro ones it will me more people doing their own thing

Shame there isnt a hire shop near the main beach

The contract states that they must clear all beds & brollies at the end of the season. They will put the windbreaks up soon.
