Default Snorkelling

Is there anywhere that's good for snorkelling in Mallorca? We're up near the port for the last 2 weeks in July and wanted to know if there was anywhere where we could easily see some underwater wildlife on the island?

I have to admit that I'm not talking about attempting anything too ambitious, I wouldn't class myself as anything above a mediocre swimmer and have only attempted snorkelling when we were on holiday in the Maldives. Then it was mainly floating on the surface looking down, but there was plenty to see.

I'm not expecting anything comparable with those tropical waters, but it would be interesting to know if anyone has any opinions.

Yeah, I looked at that, not really in English though, so I'm not too convinced of the quality of the information. I searched on google a bit, and there is some interesting stuff, just wanted to know if anyone here had personal experience or recommendations, as there's always a wealth of information on this forum.

Hi Codex,

We first learned to snorkel in the Maldives some years ago and could not wait to try in/near Puerto Pollensa. The first shock in Majorca is that the water temperature is much lower when you learned in almost warm bath levels.

Best places are Malpas and Cala San Vincente (Mollins Beach), there are various fish to see but not the varieties or colours you might expect.

We enjoy snorkelling in Majorca better July to September.

Lucky.

Have a look on You Tube. There is one on Cala SV. Not much sound!
