Default The Best Tapas?

Evening all, first post on here, please be gentle!

We are a family returning to Puerto Pollensa in July, 4th year and can't wait!

We love to eat out most nights, my daughter is 4 and will try most things, but we have struggled in the past to find a fantastic tapas place.

Last year we tried the new La Cabana on the front, but the food we found distinctly average, and so overly salted that some of it was inedible.

Year before we tried Almirant, very expensive if going a la carte.

Looking for somewhere authentic that is going to blow us away, so open question, where is the best???

Many thanks all...

The Hamiltons

Default Tapas in Puerto Pollensa

Do give Ca'n Torrens a go for tapas - I am sure you will be pleasantly surprised. Ok the tapas are not visible on the counter but they are cooked fresh for your table and are delicious!
La Bodeguita is also good - and particularly good for 'local atmosphere'. And I should not forget to mention the Rustic Cafe - the home of the Ruta del Tapeo!

The recently opened La Roda and Lataperia are also very good, all freshly cooked to order with prices starting at around 2.50€ for a small plate.
I have posted reviews on both, here are the links :- http://www.forum.puertopollensa.com/...3-la-roda.html and http://www.forum.puertopollensa.com/...lataperia.html

O Lume do marvelous, proper tapas in the afternoons, and very reasonable. Sit in their back garden, under the vines, some tapas and white wine, heaven! Then pop down the beach and sleep it off.

I agree the tapas (as with all the food) at O'lume are excellent and I'd highly recommend a visit there - but I do think that sitting in the beautiful courtyard isn't a fully authentic tapas experience. For that I feel you have to go to a bar rather than a restaurant. So for an authentic tapas experience I'd have to go with Bar Rumbo: The tapas are all homemade and can be seen on the counter and the quality of the food is excellent (if a little more 'rustic' than O'lume).

A great opportunity to try several places (only 1.50 EUR for drink & tapa) & then return another day/evening to the places you like!

Walked past this place many times and we always comment that we have never seen anything written about it, so good to read positive feedback.

we went to El Meson for the first time in January as we were staying close by.Very friendly service and very reasonable for food and drinks..I think a cana & tapas is 1.30€, bottle beers, spirits & mixers also cheap..We have had tapas and p'amb oli there (all good) and also stopped there for lunch in April...3 course MDD about 10 or 11€..I seem to remember we had paella to start and then a cod in a sauce with vegetables..beer/wine water included.too full for dessert to had coffee instead..Really good..they also have a seating area at the back which is good
