Default Ca'n Moixet or Cafe Espanyol

Thank you, thank you, thank you Lorenzo for calling the bar in Pollensa square by its correct name. It makes me so mad when people call it Espanyol.
Sorry to rant but it's been a "thing" with me for many years.

OH Stevo don't get so mad Not sure how long it's been Ca'n Moixet (or if it always has been) but it always was Cafe Espanyol. I've even got a beautiful water colour of the bar bought about 12 years ago, and it clearly says Cafe Espanyol above the awning.

I imagine it's similar to people still referring to the supermarket in PP as Caprabo even though it changed to Eroski years ago

I am in the UK at the moment so can't confirm it but am sure that the sign says "un cafe espanyol" which it is.It is a Spanish cafe named Ca'n Moixet.
Surely the surermarket is named Syp....lol.

I was in Pollensa square last night and asked a waitress to explain the confusion over Cafe Espanyol and C'an Moixnet. As many people know 'Ca'n' in Spanish means 'house of' and Moixnet is the surname of the owners. The bar is called Cafe Espanyol though

Ive been informed that Moixet means Cat in Catalan/Mallorcan, hence the black cat that is sitting on a chair on Ca'n Moixet's logo.

In my previous line of business I was a corporate identity designer, and more often that not we would design a logo based around the name of the business. In the case of Ca'n Moixet, I would have to assume that the business is called Ca'n Moixet after the logo.

Just my 2 cents.

From a very reliable source, they are both correct. Its been called Cafe Espanyol for ever and the new owners called it Ca'n Moixet as a new nickname. So to all the locals its known as both, depending on who you speak to. Im happy with that!
