We had a lovely
romantic evening in Pollenca town. We love the old town and really missed having the villa on its outskirts this year. Don't get me wrong - we had a lovely time in the Port, and had loads of great meals - but there is something about the town that I just love. Call it a soft spot!!
We jumped on the public bus from PP and 15 mins later we alighted the beautifully cool air-conditioned coach in the heart of the old town. we strolled up to a little bar at the foot of the Calvario and had a pre-dinner drink. The place was really quiet.
About 9ish we strolled around the corner to La Font Dell Gall and struck it lucky with a candle-lit table just inside the door. It was a hot night but the dining room has air-con (you can sit outside if you prefer). The place was fairly busy in comparison to the restaurants in the Port.
If you haven't been before, La Font Dell Gall is set in one of the town's narrow streets in a lovely old traditional home. It's pretty. It offers Spanish food "with a Scottish twist".
We had home-made sundried tomato bread, then OH had soup followed by chicken stuffed with haggis in a whisky cream sauce. I had beef with a Drambuie sauce. We felt a little guilty ordering Scottish choices but we weren't disappointed. The food was beautifully presented and absolutely mouth-wateringly delicious.
We shared a scrummy bitter chocolate fudge cake - it was huge!
We had a lovely bottle of Macia batle Crianza, water, 2 bottled beers and the total bill was 70 euros. I think a bargain for what I's consider "fine dining".
We lingered over little shots glasses of "Brandy Alexander" on the house to finish.
Strolled through Placa Mayor to the Taxi Rank and were driven home by a hilarious chatty driver in under 10 mins (cost 9 euros)
Quick night cap at the
Miramar and then home - a wonderful evening.
