Default Little ol' wine drinker me

Ever had that kinda feeling as a kid when you step into the sweetshop clutching your first pocket money and surrounded by rows of tempting delights ?? ( Sad to admit a threepenny bit in my case !!! ).

Well so it was today at the Pollenca wine fira. Thirty eight stalls set around the delightful Cloisters laden with the best tintos, blancos and rosados that Mallorca can produce. Five euros entrance you are presented with nice carrier bag, guide and decent wine glass and off you go. Cues at water fountains to cleanse glasses ( or palates for the serious wine buffs ) , thoroughly heavenly way of spending two hours or so on a late Sunday morning in Spring.

Hardworking this wine tasting so on, with friends, for lunch at La Posada D'Ariant . Heady with wine , we decide to eat indoors but nice tables outside and because market had finito would have been nice spot as well.

Ensemadas with coffee pre quaffing necessitated we all skipped starters and went straight into mains. Pork with fig sauce, Lamb with crushed olives, duck with red berries and entrecote in wine sauce. Quite honestly, superb so we all tasted morsels of each others. Finished up with the usual suspects of home made puds.

For some strange reason we ordered wine by the glass ( a couple each ), perhaps the choice at the Fira had overwhelmed us all. Not cheap at about 60euros per couple (for obvious reasons had strong coffees after as well !!! ) but we'll definitely return. Not personally experienced enough on Ca'n Costa to comment but I suspect La Posada could take up their "mantle".

Had a lovely chat with Debs and Belladonna at the fair. Bella had come prepared in some nice flat shoes , think she might have had a problem with the wine and those high heels !!!!

Great day out

I love La Posada d'Ariant! A beautiful old building and their MDD at lunchtime is good value too.

Lucky you, only get the chance to visit once a year now due to costs etc but still get there! heard last year that it may be pedestranised in front of the side right of the roundabout on the front of the port - has this happened?
