Default Ca'n Moncho -new restaurant

Ca'n Moncho is a new fish/seafood restaurant opening this weekend in C/Llevant near junction with C/Formentor. It is on the site of the old 'Codfather' restaurant. I had a quick look this morning and they seem to be making a really smart job of re-forming the place with a nice patio area at the rear. They apparently have a long established business in Alcudia.

Just for information the old Tribeca restaurant next door is being done up and will open later this month as an 'African-Senegalese' restaurant.

This year has seen the opening of some really interesting new restaurants in the Port - which can only be good news. Let's hope they all manage to stay the distance.

Agree 100%, having worked in that industry many moons ago I can vouch for the fact that opening them is the easy part. However, Making a success of them is a totally different ball game.

This is a shame.

I generally eat out twice a day on holiday and I've eaten in most of the restaurants in PP, all standards. This one looked great and we intended to go there but ... never did. There's the rub; if we didn't go then I'm sure many others wouldn't.

So why? Often we had someone in our party who "doesn't like fish" so, even if they had other dishes on the menu, the 'seafood restaurant' label led us to go elsewhere.

And that's the other issue, there are so many, many good "elsewheres" in PP. Dare I say there are too many restaurants?

Sadly, the best restaurants tend to be off-the-beaten track so, for most people who visit PP only once or twice a year, this gives an impression that PP only has average/poor restaurants. Visitors who are happy with these places will re-book next year so they will prosper and risk creating a downward spiral of quality.

As individuals, we have a responsibility not to be lazy when choosing where to go, step out a bit further and pay a bit more (even if that means a few less meals out).
