That sounds a good idea.
Do try D'Arca though. It is lovely in the evening, we were there again last week and it is still great food.

Will do. Hopefully not too many more will close down before December for the season. Thanks for the updates.

Hi cumberland8. If you are interested in Alcudia fine dining, also give Satyricon a try. There have been a few write ups on it, and we went at Easter. Check out our review; http://www.forum.puertopollensa.com/...t-alcudia.html

Belladona,
Yes that is the one. The restaurant is in a petite hotel called Ca'n Simo. There is a sister restaurant just 50m away called Ca'n Pere which is a hotel and restaurant.
However, the owner, Pedro, opened a new restaurant in Alcudia last Friday and the brilliant Chilean chef, Roberto, has moved there. We went to D'arca last week when the new Brazillian chef was under training and the food was just as good. We plan to visit the new restaurant this week, but don't know the name yet. Will let you know.
After Jardin, which good for special occasions, D'Arca is my favourite restaurant still

Belladona,
We looked for the new D'Arca restaurant last night and it is in the square behind the townhall in old Alcudia town, however it was not open.
We went back to the original D'Arca and found the reason - Roberto the Chilien chef had just been rushed to hospital with a burst appendix and his condition was said to be "dangerous". There were tears all round and they were coping as best they could as his girlfriend who is the sole waitress rushed off to be with him.
Later we spoke to Pedro, the owner, who explained that the new restaurant has exactly the same name as the old one "D'Arca den Peter! When I asked how you could distinguish between them when making a phone booking he looked a bit lost as though it hadn't occurred to him. He then offered "D'Arca one" as the old restaurant and "D'Arca on the square" as the other. I suspect that the real reason for the same name is that eventually he will close the original one as he doesn't own the hotel which it is in.
Providing Roberto is OK then the new restaurant will open in about two weeks. On looking at the new one it looks as though most of the seating is on the square, although we couldn't see inside. In which case the original D'Arca would take our vote because of the pretty courtyard.
Last night despite a very subdued atmosphere the food was still good and the new Chef seems to have fitted in well.

Thank you for this update, but what a terrible shame about Roberto. I do hope that he recovers quickly.
I think I would agree with you regarding the eating area and will probably opt for the original D'arca for an evening meal, but will check out the new one perhaps for a lunch if it is suitable.

The new D'Arca on the square is open. Roberto is convelescing and will return to the old D'Arca in 3 weeks time and will stay as chef there. It was absolutely full the other evening so booking is essential.

Last saturday we decided to go across to Puerto Alcudia for a change of scene from PP and we went for dinner in casa Gallega. I had enjoyed menu del dia there twice in the past and enjoyed it and of course their sisters restaurants golf aucanda and Aucanada Terraces are fantastic. Have to say I left there very very disappointed, very expensive meal for a very average experience. Basic service, screaming children, average food (my fish was almost resuricted as it was swimming in a mango sauce and not even a fish knife to be had for love or money!!). 80euros for two of us is not a cheap meal and we left feeling seriously cheated. I had always heard good reports from here and most tables were reserved by Spanish families so was it me???

That's a real shame, we haven't been there for a while because we also found it very average. I have to say that we also stopped going to La Terreza because of average food and very high prices. The setting is briiliant though.
If you come this way again do try D'Arca (the original one) it is consistantly good and a lovely setting too, in a different way.

I agree ak re la terraza. It was such a shame when they became more commercialised. However, a couple of jugs of sangria and that view does seem to make up for the very slight change! Oh, and I ended up being on German music tv whilst there last year, so I just have to keep going!!
